Join Esther Stutzman, a Native American storyteller from Yoncalla,
Oregon, and teacher and Chair of the Komemma Cultural Protection
Association. The program will begin with 15 minutes of Native
drumming and conclude in the same fashion. Esther will tell
stories from her Kalapuya and Coos ancestors, including Coyote
stories, Origin stories, and stories involving audience participation.
Her stories will harken back to the time when animals could
talk and people could talk to animals.
Esther is a keeper and teacher of her indigenous Oregon cultures,
which she shares widely through stories and arts handed down
from her ancestors. She has worked with the Oregon Folklife
Council at the Oregon Historical Society, the Applegate House
Arts and Education program in Yoncalla, as a Board Member
of Archaeological Legacy Institute.
