To the Apache, it was BESH-BA-GOWAH: Metal Camp. To the pioneers of the 1800s, it was just a dusty ruin. But to archaeologists, this ancient pueblo is a gold mine of information. Seven centuries ago a small city of stone stood here: a home to an amazing people who developed a civilization long before the arrival of the Europeans. Today, we call them the Salado, but we will never know what they called themselves. By the arrival of Columbus, they had faded into the fabric of time. Few sites in the Southwest have produced such a wealth of artifacts … and understanding … as BESH-BA-GOWAH. Travel back through time and explore this fascinating part of Ancient America!
